Signing up is straightforward:
- Choose your plan — Select whether your boiler is under manufacturer's guarantee or not, then pick the plan that suits you (Essential, Advanced, or Premium). An annual boiler service is included with every plan.
- Add any extras — Choose from our three optional add-ons: Aquair Service, Gas Fire Service, or Unvented Cylinder Service.
- Fill in your details — Complete the short online form with your contact and property information.
- We'll be in touch — A member of our team will contact you to arrange an initial boiler survey. This visit confirms your boiler and system are eligible for care plans and lets us record its current condition.
- Cover begins — Once the survey is complete and any required remedial work is agreed, your cover starts and you're protected.
Yes — every Boiler Care Plan includes an annual boiler service as standard, regardless of whether your boiler is under guarantee or not, and regardless of which tier (Essential, Advanced, or Premium) you choose.
Your annual service is carried out by our own Gas Safe registered engineers and includes:
- Visual inspection of the unit for signs of damage, distress, or corrosion
- Testing of all control and safety devices
- Cleaning of the boiler's interior and main components
- Flue Gas Analyser (FGA) test to check the air/gas mix
- Full heating system check
- A written service report for your records
Keeping your boiler serviced annually also helps maintain your manufacturer's guarantee where applicable.
No, it is not insurance. Our Boiler Care plans are a service and maintenance agreement provided directly by Chelmsford Plumbing and Heating — not a regulated insurance product underwritten by a third party.
That means:
- You deal directly with our own Gas Safe registered engineers — no call centres, no claims handlers.
- There are no policy underwriters, no claims forms, and no call out charges on our plans.
- You're paying for ongoing servicing, priority access to our engineers, and the repair/replacement benefits set out in your chosen plan.
Because it isn't insurance, care plans are not regulated by the FCA, and the benefits, limits, and exclusions are exactly as described in your plan and the terms of agreement — nothing more, nothing less.
You have three options: Essential, Advanced, and Premium. All three include your annual boiler service. The Premium Plan for boilers outside guarantee is priced differently because it includes full boiler repair care — parts and labour for breakdowns within the boiler case — which isn't needed when your manufacturer's guarantee is still active.
When your boiler is no longer under manufacturer's guarantee, we take on the cost of any repairs to the boiler itself (parts and labour within the boiler case, plus boiler replacement contribution where applicable). This extra care is why the price differs from the Premium Plan for boilers still under guarantee. The annual boiler service is included in both versions.
We offer three optional add-ons you can select when signing up. These cover appliances and systems outside the boiler itself:
- Aquair Service — Annual service of your Aquair air-to-air heat recovery unit, including filter clean, fan and heat exchanger check, airflow test, and electrical safety checks.
- Gas Fire Service — Full safety inspection of your gas fire, including burner and flue check, gas pressure test, ventilation check, and combustion efficiency analysis.
- Unvented Cylinder Service — Annual safety service of your unvented hot water cylinder, including TPR valve test, expansion vessel check, controls inspection, and performance test.
The survey lets our engineer confirm your boiler and heating system are in good working order, installed to manufacturer's specification, and free from pre-existing faults. This protects you (so there's no dispute later) and us (so we know what we're covering). If anything needs attention before our care plans can begin, we'll provide a clear, separate quote — there's no obligation.
All work is carried out by our own directly employed Gas Safe registered engineers — we don't use subcontractors. Calls are answered by our in-house office team, so you'll always speak to someone who knows your property and plan.
